Kiki represents the timeless and elegant style of Ilmari Tapiovaara, an interior architect and furniture designer who was influenced by the design concepts of Alvar Aalto. Wanting to design accessible furniture for a broad audience, he made use of materials that were readily available in Finland. Tapiovaara designed the Kiki Collection in 1960 and employed a clean-cut design design idiom, choosing oval steel tubing as the structural and unifying element of the whole Kiki collection. Kiki was a huge success, establishing the current direction for furniture design at this time. The Kiki product range is comprised of chairs, tables, lounge chairs, benches and sofas.
